The ancient brass horns are blown calling me to the crumbling temple to pray again to the decaying visage of my near-forgotten goddess. I round the corner of my debris-strewn street and am met by one of my rusting robotic companions. ‘His’ failing articulation squeaks as he accompanies my routine journey. I am reminded to add finding a better replacement for his parts to my litany of prayers. Approaching closer to the sandstone temple we pass by wailing market venders trying to sell me dehydrated meats of distant sea creatures that privately offend my religious observances. I leave ‘him’ at the door to the chapel and enter. Robots can’t pray to organic gods.
